Rowenna

Rowenna is a highly qualified English teacher with 20 years of classroom experience, including Head of English for 12 years, as well as various other leadership roles. She has taught most texts at GCSE and A-Level, as well as GCSE English Language. Rowenna has extensive experience as an exam marker, having marked the GCSE literature and language papers for many years; she has lots of examiner insight to share as well as tips and tricks to get students over that next grade boundary.

Rowenna‘s knowledge includes how to break down a text so that students have a solid understanding of the plot before moving on to how to analyse and consider writers’ intentions. For language, she is able to help with comprehension and inference as well as how to plan and structure the all-important writing questions. Rowenna also knows how to really push students to find their own ‘voice’ and opinions if they are aiming high.

Rowenna knows how to motivate students and has an understanding of how hard the exams can be and how to help students tackle them with confidence. She enjoys working with young people and is a kind and approachable tutor. Rowenna loves English and has detailed subject knowledge but crucially knows how to adapt the content dependent on the needs of the individual.

Rowenna will be offering online tuition to students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
