Amy

Secondary English Teacher

Amy is an English teacher with 18 years’ experience helping young people develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning. Her career has included seven years as Head of English and three years as Vice Principal, choosing recently to focus solely on what she enjoys most – working closely with students on a one-to-one basis and helping them achieve their potential.

Amy teaches KS3 and GCSE across all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas and OCR. Whether a student is aiming to secure a pass, achieve the highest grades, or simply regain confidence in English, every lesson is tailored to their individual needs, learning style and goals. Amy is also a current AQA GCSE English Literature examiner, giving her up-to-date knowledge of assessment standards and what examiners look for in high-quality responses.

Amy’s role extends beyond tutoring. She sees herself as a mentor as well as a teacher, helping students develop effective revision habits, independent study skills and the confidence to tackle challenges. She understands that many young people experience anxiety around English or examinations, so Amy creates a calm, encouraging environment where students feel supported to ask questions, make mistakes and celebrate their progress.

Above all, Amy believes that every student can succeed with the right support. Her goal is not only to improve grades but to help young people become confident, independent learners who leave each session believing in their own ability.
