Kate

Secondary Science Teacher

Kate has 25 years of experience in education, specialising in KS3 and KS4 Science, A-Level Biology, Level 3 Applied Science, EPQ and university applications. She has a strong track record of helping students build confidence and succeed, whether they need to boost grades, overcome challenges or push towards top university offers.

Kate’s lessons are tailored to individual needs. She always begins with a diagnostic conversation to identify areas for focus and from there, plans lessons that include clear explanations, targeted content and plenty of practice with exam-style questions. She has an excellent understanding of exam strategies and knows how to help students avoid common pitfalls. Many of Kate’s students say that she has helped them feel more confident, something she believes is essential for exam success.

Kate has a wide range of strategies that suit different types of learners, including those with SEND, who may need specific approaches to reach their potential. She also offers revision sessions during school holidays to help tackle weaker areas in-depth and refine exam technique.

Kate has supported many students through the UCAS process, including interviews and personal statements and offers specialist guidance for competitive courses like Medicine and Veterinary Science. She also teaches the EPQ and can support students with project planning, research, and presentation skills.

Kate will be offering online and face-to-face science support in Wetherby and the surrounding areas.
